About Us...

Galeri Caernarfon Cyf. (formerly known as Cwmni Tref Caernarfon Cyf) is a not for profit community enterprise operating as a Development Trust.

Galeri Caernarfon Cyf's vision is that "anything is possible...through creative thought and sustainable action"

To realise the vision the company will: "implement sustainable projects in a creative way to realise the cultural, economic and environmental potential of the local community and its environs"

More About the Company

The company was established in 1992 to “pursue social, economic and environmental projects for the benefit of the community in Caernarfon and its environs”.

The Trust is responsible for establishing and implementing numerous projects and schemes within the local community, including:

  • Property development
  • Running SBARC! Arts Project for Children and Young People
  • Owning and running Galeri Creative Enterprise Centre
  • POSIB Consultancy Services (sharing expertise in regeneration projects, project management and training)

In the early years, the company worked tirelessly to improve the image of Caernarfon town centre by purchasing derelict buildings (shops, offices and housing) within the walled town. To date, the Trust has refurbished and re-developed 19 previously vacant ‘eye sores’ within Caernarfon as well as developing Galeri Creative Enterprise Centre in the town’s Victoria Dock.

Galeri Creative Enterprise Centre was officially opened in April 2005 has been the largest and most ambitious of the Trust’s projects so far – costing £7.5m. Galeri includes:

  • 394 seat theatre and cinema
  • 24 office units
  • Art Space
  • 2 large rehearsal studios
  • 3 smaller rehearsal rooms
  • Meeting rooms
  • DOC Cafe Bar (serving a fresh, local home-cooked menu)

Since 2000, the Trust has also been running a successful Arts Project called SBARC!. The project provides a range of classes in performance and rock music for children and young people (ages 7 – 21) from the area as well as arranging several workshops throughout the year focusing on new media / film and writing. SBARC! has 200 children benefiting on a weekly basis from the scheme.

POSIB is the Trust’s training and consultancy branch. We can offer specific training and guidance in property development, management / maintenance and/or project management. Over the years we have been working with the Welsh Government, Antur Waunfawr as well as managing Cwmni Adwy Cyf’s portfolio of properties in an agency capacity.
